I am not sure that you could call this a "rag tag" unit. It was a GP-35 that was rebuilt at Altoona to GP-38 specifications.
I think the engine was reasonably successful but the railroad at the time could not justify the expense of rebuilding more
GP-35's. It was not repeated.

Assignments for this rebuilt GP35 could be anywhere with in the CONRAIL's system ..
Not sure where it's today roaming 2008.

It was sold to Genesee & Wyoming industries a good 10+ years ago, I forget if it went to the B&P or the QGRY or whatever their Canadian operation is, or somewhere else.

The unit still in Penn Central paint with CR patchwork (see the Penn Central forum) out in Kansas, is rag-tag.
