I stopped by the proposed location for the new Wareham Village stop a couple of days ago, and there was some slight progress. There were more survey staking and spray painted outlines showing that a rather small (probably 40') platform will be built soon directly behind the fire station. I calculate the "station" will be at MP 48.9 about 1000' north of the former Wareham Station shelter/platform.

Drove past there myself yesterday and saw the exact same thing.

Sounds very much like the old Shore Line East "bus shelter" stations. Only as a high level ;-)

It is hard to tell whether it will be a wood or concrete platform. Wait and see I guess. I read that Academy Drive will be undergoing crossing protection upgrade from April 26 to April 28 to have gates and a new roadbed installed.

About time. That crossing is incredibly dangerous. People are always running it!

Good to see real progress on both projects.

I'm hoping to be on one of the trains between Boston and Hyannis this season
What's the chances of having 1050 for power with a cab car

They start sometime this week. They have been waiting for some track work to be completed. I do not think you will see a control car in use on the passenger version. More than likely it will have two units...

That makes more sense than the previously reported 40' platform length. Someone missed a zero, I guess!

My 40' estimate was based on spray painted survey lines I observed at the construction site, and it was based on the length of other high level platforms at built at Buzzard's Bay, Sandwich, West Barnstable and Hyannis. It was a guess and as it turns out, and wrong one. My bad.

According to the news article linked below, Massachusetts Transportation Secretary Richard Davey and the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority will announce details of the 2014 CapeFLYER rail service season today (We. 4/30) at 1:30 p.m. at the Hyannis Transportation Center. Hopefully the 2014 schedule will be available shortly thereafter.

Mass Bay Extra 1504 (Possibly with the 1120) just cleared Bay northbound. Anyone have an idea of what this train could be?

The recent images posted on the CapeFLYER Facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/Capeflyer
would suggest that this train was run down to Hyannis for today's MassDOT/CCRTA press conference.
