Seems unlikely given that the B&M had a very well organized historical society that came into existence before the merger with Maine Central and the GRS takeover.

Don't even think about trespassing on Railroad property it is both illegal and very dangerous. Individuals trespassing on railroad property without permission from the company are railcrooks not railfans.

Well... I was there today, never beyond the parking lot and I got friendly wave from a guy standing outside having a smoke... he didn't cared that I was there. Then again there were 2 UPS trucks and Three Fed Ex trucks near me so, it was no big deal. Yes is its private property and if you treated as so, (like any other private property) nobody is going to slap cuffs on you. It’s the people who go too far that get in trouble.

All companies retain files. GRS does it in an area inside the old shop building. God knows what's in there now and how far the oldest material dates back... and how much would be of interest to anyone but the serious historian.

And it can't be overstressed: It's private property.
