Observations today reveal virtually all of the old R Tracks in Yard 8 are gone
as the GLXess project ramps up this spring. Of note is that the passing or storage
siding off the Willey Track has been severed at the south end. So now there
is only one through track between the Walnut St crossovers and 3rd Avenue in
Somerville.

Don't believe the missing switch has anything to do with the DOBO derailment
Wednesday night in Yard 8. There are however one lone covered hopper at
the north end, two seperated BS&G loads at the south end (they look like they
are rerailed). Down at 3rd Avenue there are two BS&G loads on the Willey
Track.

LA-4 was supposed to set these loads over to BS&G Friday night when they
came back from Salem, but alas they derailed themselves in Peabody!

Well that escalated quickly...

What a shame. You would think that with over 50 years of planning and foot dragging, there wouldn't be so many flaws in this project. I'm also surprised they'd already be taking the runaround apart when the maintenance facility plan isn't even fully developed, let alone starting construction.

Tonight there is one covered hopper in Yard 8. Can't tell if it is on the lead or the runaround track. There's a bunch of gondolas, presumably from Pan Am/Schnitzer, shoved in between the legs of the Yard 10 wye.

That covered hopper is on the through track/Willey.

The cars down at FX (Yard 9/10) have been there for most of last week.
