I was wondering if anyone had these answers about the World's Fair ALCO cab display:

Was the back of the cab just sheet metal welded in place?

The photos of it always show the right side. I assume on the left side was a platform with steps?

Did the right side cab door open? I figure it would be permanently closed so no one fell out.

The Friends of Locomotive #35 now own this display cab. They may be able to answer some of these questions. Their website address is http://www.lirr35.org/

you are correct the rear of the cab was steel welded to cover up where it was cut from the rest of the engine. the engineers door was at least when we got it from camp tanglewood sealed the firemens side had steps to get in and out but again when we got it no door if your interested in seeing this once the warm weather gets here we will be at mitchell field working on this lots of progress has been made on this as it was a rotting hulk when we got it.
