Here's an odd ball for ya..

I was working train #115 yesterday...train 15 was stuck at Hammond because of....a crossing gate ended up tangled in the catenary...how I'll never know..they made it out but 115 and 215 were back to back at state line for about 20 minutes.

wind maybe? that is an odd one.

Yeah, one of the other conductors was talking about how it happened to his train near Odgen Dunes one time. The wind blew the gate across the tracks..the train nailed it and it got tied up in the pantograph.

what's the proper protocol in that situation?

slam on the brakes, flatten some wheels, and preserve the wires, pans, and schedule?

or keep on rockin and screw up the wires but keep the wheels round?
