What became of the Westinghouse improved Beardmore design after Westinghouse ceased selling locomotives? Kirkland laments that Baldwin's failure to pick up the design and instead develop the VO from scratch was comparable to Alco's decision to build the 244. He regarded the decision to be a result of "human fraility".
