Members of Jersey Shore Live Steam, a group dedicated to the building and preservation of miniature steam locomotives and antique trains, found themselves an ally Saturday.
Ocean County Freeholder John C. Bartlett Jr., who has been interested in steam engines since the seventh grade, said the county park system may be able to find a home for the Tuckerton Railroad proposed by the nonprofit group. Bartlett is the chairman of Parks and Recreation.
Barlett, after engineering a locomotive's round trip on the temporary 200-foot track set up in Heritage Park, said Wells Mills Park in Waretown or Tip Seaman Park in Tuckerton might become a permanent home for the railroad.
