This is a neat little web site by Larry Fendrick, a professional photographer who grew up in Brooklyn. The Culver Line was abandoned while he was a teenager. This site is full of photos, tickets, and newspaper clippings spanning the history of this litte shuttle line.

End of Line for Culver Shuttle
The New York Daily News - Friday May 9, 1975
By JOHN KELLY

The Borough Park Culver shuttle service will go the way of the trolley car with the Transit Authority announcement yesterday of its closing effective 12:01 a.m. Sunday. The 1.1-mile shuttle accommodated about 1,000 daily users, running between the BMT B line at Ninth Ave. and 39th St. and the IND F line at Ditmas and McDonald Aves.

Very interesting:

Given how bad New York's economy in 1975 really was, they really didn't have a choice. It would have looked very extravagant to rehibilitate the line at a cost of $1 million (about $5 million I would guess in 2007 dollars) and costing $850,000 a year for the declining ridership it was dealing with then. Of course, no one could have known in 1975 how much things would change since, and perhaps now, it might be time to consider exploring if not too costly re-building this line as a single track.

They should have left the Culver Shuttle alone to this day. Would have been a great plus for those who wanted to ride the Manhattan Bridge and then ride the street-high EL over McDonal Ave. That would have been cool for me.
