The NJT extra came up from Atlantic City and wanted to spin the engine on Amtrak but were apparently denied, so they spun on Conrail. The engine was down as a protect unit, but due to unexpected circumstances, she was pressed into service. Coming down from the MMC the wrong way, it had to be spun for revenue service, thus this move.
NICE shot with the 2000 and the NJT train. You won’t ever see that again.
