Hi all,

I am researching a little bit on rotary snowplows for a possible live steam project. Yes - I want to see if I can't build a rotary snowplow, powered by live steam!

This would be an application for G scale trains. Never mind the power plant and such.

What I am really looking for is information on how they work. From what I understand it has "vanes" which could be changed to alternate the direction of the throw. However, this would likely not be possible in small scale.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work in G scale? Seeing as I live in snowy New York, this would be a doable project, and would be plain fun!

What I am thinking of is a disc which features "vanes" that would be angled as to help direct the snow to the chute, where it would continue out.

If anyone has any explanations as to how rotaries work, or suggestions and concepts on my project, please do reply here! I would be very appreciative of any supportive information!

Thanks in advance,

Mike
