One would still have to:
Get off the train & get a cab to the dock and then there is the matter of connecting to the ferry! Someone would have to change their schedules.
Of course you could always ride the the Charlotte runner on the next yard job or hopper train!


But, nice idea though especially to the Finger Lakes!

'Tain't THAT fer a walk in nice weather. Besides, seems like a bus shuttle from the depot to the ferry wouldn't be too unreasonable a service to provide.

Regarding the "runaway of Charlotte, 12/23/01" The engines ended up about 300 yards past the River st. crossing near the Lake Ave. bridge. with several hoppers toppled between there and River st.. The major pile up occured at River st. where several coal cars and three hazardous/flamable cars piled up and burst into flames. After CSX's cleanup and the City of Rochester's River st/Stutson St Bridge projects the area certainly looks alot more respectable than prior to the wreck.
