No railroad company can guarantee job security. If a customer closes or a line gets shut down due to a natural disaster, there isn't anything that management could do to save jobs since their main concern is to keep the railroad viable. I'm a devout union member and supporter, but I also understand that companies sometimes have to make tough decisions to keep a company afloat.
