heard it struggling up the hill in Ho Ho Kus around 830, sounded like a road freight engine and a 38, and heard a lot of cars behind it

Heads up on this one. Eastbound through Ramsey at 10:30 with both road engines running long hood forward.
I think it may be possible that NJ Transit might not be the perfect, infallible organization that most people assume it is.

i heard another one about half hour ago(11:50) heading west, quickly with a Nathan P5 horn. that's all i know about it.
