It took four months and $25,000 to build the "real" Whippany River Railroad line in 1895.

To build the 2005 model train layout at the Whippany Railway Museum has taken about that long. And if the volunteer modelers had charged for their time, it would have cost about the same as the railroad of 115 years ago.
