Channel 6 had a story they did for NECN showing it blocking Congress as well; I have no idea if it also blocked Walton St. which would be the next available crossing. I have no idea if the PPD has "temporarily make Park Ave. two-way" in their strategic toolbox but that would seem like a major possibility for passenger traffic (trucks would have to use I-295 or Fore River Parkway).

One of the other TV stations said the crossings were blocked from 6:30am to 8:30am... what a nightmare. Worst possible time of day for that to happen.

Seeing how often this happens in Portland, PPD likely has a detour planed for about every crossing in the city.

Perhaps since these trains are now CSX trains :grinning: , things will go much better in the near future.

Haha, I was thinking the other day — most of them have been CSX to date*.

I encountered a POWA stalled at Forest Ave., but that was only 5 minutes — comparatively very lucky.

* With the customary PAR "put a black stripe through the letters CSX and no one will know whose locomotive this was." :joy:

What do we call these locomotives now. CSX locomotives patched for Pan Am now once again owned by CSX. Confused Kittens perhaps?

Was it 33 locomotives that B&E needs for PAS? I guess they get the pick of the litter. The remaining units are headed to the bone yard.

Here is a shot of RUPO Eng 381-307-516 at Curtis Corner in Leeds this afternoon. For those of you
looking for reasons to be optimistic the turnout at Libby's Pit was full of machinery for a production
tie gang. Haven't noticed ties run out anywhere yet.

Is Libby's pit on the branch or FML?

Libby's pit is about 2.5 miles up the branch from Leeds Junction- the old timetable I have says 50.22 miles
from Portland, with Plains Road passing thru the site. In somewhat recent times Pike Industries had a paving
material batch plant there and back in the 70's National Metals had a scrap metal shredding operation there
with the product shipped out by rail. Makes a convenient staging area as it is within sight of the Route 202
overpass.

I have seen references to "Drop offs" at the Keag for OT-1. Is this happening and what kind of traffic is being dropped off?

Tie and surfacing crews were working on the Rumford Branch last week and I noticed evidence
of their handy work between Curtis Corner and Striclands- I didn't go east of there. I doubt that
the work is any more than maintaining the status quo class 1 track on the branch. Today I noticed
a tie crew had been working on the main line west of Leeds Jct. Where the track is close to Rt 202
in Greene it appears the tie replacement is somewhat more aggressive than on the branch with
one stretch on the order of every 5th or 6th tie but no idea how consistent that is.
