Type 7 Overhaul Program

so I don't know what's going on but 3624, 3659, 3664 now are out of service awaiting parts bringing down the active fleet count to 96.

3628 as well

3664 is back in active service

3659 is in shop.

Looks like the original reddish-brown floor coverings got repurposed after being replaced with black ones during the overhaul. Here are some being used as flooring on the staircase at Fenway Station:

The T has budgeted to replace the Type 7s' LCD "rollsigns" with the LED versions seen on the Type 9s and some Type 8s. The project is included in the 2023–2027 Capital Improvement Plan, page 98, project P0673p, with a budget of $1.1 million.

Keep the Kinki Kars as long as possible. They are more dependable, right?

I believe there have been some issues with the dynamic brakes since the overhaul (heard something about needing to clean the resistor grids in distilled water to prevent fires in the tunnels). But on the whole, yes, they are more reliable than the Type 8s, not to mention recently rebuilt.

Unfortunately, since they can't trainline with Type 9s in revenue service (despite my dream of a 7/9 consist), I think they're going to be retired at about the same rate as the 8s whenever the Type 10s come along.

Car 3692 has recently been spotted with the new rollsign.

3614 & 3707, the first and last overhauled respectively have now had their wipers damaged as a result of the collision between the two cars but they seem like they will be eventually fixed.

Does anyone know what happened with 3698. Netransit doesn't even list the car but if it's not scapped then it would be 222 cars with 99 7s.

Does anyone know what happened to 3708 the car hasn't been running in a while?
