IRT car fit on PATH ?. Depends on 2 items. One is what is the Center pins of truck distances of each agency. How much overhang from truck pin to end of car. Fitting in on PARTH quite an engineering problem.

The Steinway Tunnels have the narrowest loading gauge anywhere in NYCT, possibly more than the H&M tubes.

The Steinway Tunnels are on the NYC Subway #7 Flushing Line. They connect Grand Central Station under the East River to Long Island City.

Never knew they were called that learn something every day. How did they get that name ?

The tunnels were named for William Steinway of the Steinway Piano Co. who provided initial funding for the project. If you search Steinway Tunnel in Wikipedia, you can read the whole story of these tunnels which were originally built for trolley cars.
