Looking at the 1948 PCC roster, I noticed a number of 1948 cars were retired fairly young, some as early as 1965 and into the late 60s. Was this due to some being mothballed due to increasing bustitutions? 17 years is very young for retirement, given most (but not all) of the 1947-1948 PCCs went through the GOH rebuild program in the 1980s.
The older 1940-1942 PCCs were retired earlier, some as early as 1965 and through 1982.

Since my friend continues to chain smoke nonstop, she is probably an Alco.
