Looking at the 1948 PCC roster, I noticed a number of 1948 cars were retired fairly young, some as early as 1965 and into the late 60s. Was this due to some being mothballed due to increasing bustitutions? 17 years is very young for retirement, given most (but not all) of the 1947-1948 PCCs went through the GOH rebuild program in the 1980s.

The older 1940-1942 PCCs were retired earlier, some as early as 1965 and through 1982.

2106 and 2112 collided June 17 1962 and were retired 2139 was in an accident in September 1962 and was retired as a result 29 of the 1948 batch were among the 60 cars destroyed in the October 23 1975 Woodhouse fire
