I was on a trip that was billed as the last passenger run for the C420s. It ran to Montauk. On the return trip we broke down in Amagansett and took the siding east of the station to wait a rescue engine.

But, perhaps others can verify the last passenger run for the C420s trip to Montauk with the breakdown?

Thank you for the responses to this subject, I do t recall hearing about another C420 trip after the Sept 89 one. I do have a video of this trip, however it’s in VHS format.

What bothers me the most about the L2's is the retirement, sale to Naparano and then nobody stepped forward to purchase these perfectly operable, bargain, ALCO's. Consequently, they got cut up with thousands of miles in service still on them.
I think three L1's still exist, though not all in service.
