Mike

There are still a number of F40PH's that are still in passenger use out there, and a number that were converted to freight service and in use by some shortlines.

One of only two photos I took of the D&MM. 1973 *I think*

Check out the not-quite-regulation outfit on the brakie - hey, it was the '70s, you know...

The 44 tonners were painted orange then.

Was #2 (ex-B&H D-1) painted orange when she arrived in 1971? Or was she still wearing black and yellow?

Weren't the M&MM diesels white and green for a while?

I've seen very few color photos of the D&MM 44 tonners.

I've still seen quite a few Wind Turbines stock piled there. As of late a few blades loaded on trailers apparently ready to be shipped out.
So i presume they still receive them via rail and this location serves as a staging area?

Regarding the D&MM 44-tonners, one of them (#1) was the very last 44-tonner delivered by GE on 10/19/1956. It was (is?) serial number 32664. I don't know if it still exists. Someone here has pictures of the pair of them being sent out to the Cape Cod area I believe, but I don't know what happened to them after that.

That would be me! ;)
The Dansville & Mount Morris existed as the DMM between 1891 and 1985.
In 1985, the DMM was taken over by and absorbed into the Genesee & Wyoming.

In 1986 I was a teenage railfan over in Waverly, NY, along Conrail's Southern Tier Main.
One day, I was hanging around the tracks with my camera, as was my custom, when an eastbound Guilford/D&H
train came through trailing two unusual orange switchers! At the time, I had no idea what they were,
but I snapped the pictures anyway! Decades later I learned they were the last two DMM
locomotives which had just left Dansville for the last time, heading east to their new owner, Bay Colony
in Massachusetts. This was the first and last time I ever saw any DMM motive power in person!

In 1998, DMM 1 was with the Adrian & Blissfield, and DMM 2 was with the SRR of NJ.

I'll google around for them, and see where they are today..

Is the other 44 tonner still running? She is former D1 from the Bath & Hammondsport RR, as well being ex-DMM, so I especially interested in her story.
