This past weekend, I drove on Roslyn Road in Mineola to see what the hub bub is all about. I understand that a grade crossing elimination project is under way.

Question is, how is the LIRR going to do this ? The tracks see to be lower than Roslyn Rd. They can't possibly raise the tracks. And there doesn't seem to be much room to do what was done at Herricks Road.

How is the LIRR going to pull this off ? Any idea ?

From what I hear the only thing that will effect the rail is the cutting of third rail to make way for a temporary crossing, and that's it. Roslyn Rd. itself will be built over the tracks just like Mineola Blvd. If anything, service disruptions may occur, and definitely steelwork will occur mostly during night hours when rail traffic is less frequent at best. Anything surrounding the tracks will still occur, so that will give it a 24/7 operation. Buildings around the crossing are being demolished to the diversion of Roslyn Rd. can occur while the bridge is being built.
