As I was going to www.merail.com today, I noticed it was with an all new layout, the first new website format since 2000.

Yup! It was redone near the end of last year - I want to say it was around November.

I'm a particular fan of our new maps, which outline our routes much better than those on the old page.

As of early April 2013, the M&E decided to split our website into two separate sites for freight & passenger information. With this split came another complete site redesign to facilitate the change. The new sites went live today.

The original M&E site, http://www.merail.com, remains our freight website, while http://www.mepassenger.com is our new site devoted to passenger services.

Check them out and enjoy!

NOTE: For those of you who visited the old www.merail.com site before the change, you may still see the old page when you visit now. If so, you simply need to reload the page to reset your browser cache and it will load the new site!

2 questions... Which line has the most traffic, and do they keep an engine on each branch or do they shuttle engines to were they are needed for the day?

All of our engines for the Whippany, Chester, High Bridge, and Dover & Rockaway lines are based in Morristown. Traffic varies, but the D&R and Whippany lines are probably our busiest of the four.

The M&E has made some significant changes to its website (http://www.merail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) to provide more information about the freight rail services we provide. We're always looking for feedback, so please check it out and let us know what you think!

It looks like they are trying to drum up some business !!! Is there any steady customers using any of the team tracks currently???

wish more railroad sites were as easy to navigate as this lol.

Question though, how and why does M&E have trackage rights all the way to Waldwick on both the bcl and main? I can understand the bcl to the nysw interchange in saddle brook but waldwick?

Renewable Energy Group (REG) is using the Jefferson Road site, while Blue Ridge Lumber uses the one in Kenvil.

NJT wants our crews qualified to there in case we need to get out of their way and either duck into the yard or run back via the Main. It just provides additional operational flexibility for everyone involved.
