Is the MTA crazy?????? If they actually think their R12 looks like an R1/R4, they gotta re-staff the transit museum. I'll admit the R12 paint scheme looks a little bit like R7A #1575s, but that R7A wasn't built until 1936 or 1937!!!!
What I think they should do is create 2 TOMCs (As crazy as it sounds):
Train 1 represents the older SMEE 1970s consists: R12-R12-R14-R15-R17
Train 2 represents the newer SMEE Redbird consists: All of the R33ML/WFs and R36ML/WFs they got preserved, the R26/29 pairs sitting in yards into a long 11-car train.
And maybe (Though off topic) a later 1960s BMT/IND Set:
R40-R40-R42-R42-R40M-R42-R32-R32-R38-R38 (I'm including in this set the pair of R40s preserved, the pair of R42s preserved, the pair of R32s preserved, the pair of R38s preserved and the 4460-4665 or whatever combo of #s it is that was involved in the Williamsburg wreck and is now sitting idle in the CIY)
And maybe an early BMT/IND Set:
R10-R16-R16-R16-R30 (And if they
DIDNT SCRAP THE LAST R27 LAST OCTOBER that would look nice in there as well)
In that way, you represent all eras of subway cars that have been retired (Or almost retired):
IRT Lo-V Train (Early pre-R series IRT Days)
BMT Elevated Train (Though it has not run since 2004(?) it would be nice to represent the elevated days, IRT and BMT alike)
BMT D-Type (Why havent they fixed it yet?)
R1-9 Arnies (The INDs first cars)
R10-R30 Set (The 40s-early 60s BMT/IND cars)
TOMC 1 (1940s-1950s IRT cars)
TOMC 2 (The early 1960s-late 1960s IRT cars)
R32-R42 Set (The mid to late 1960s BMT/IND cars)
And then TJ will be happy
But soon, they should make an R44-R46-R68-R68A set and a R62A-R62-R62A-R62 set and a R110A-R110B set
I KNOW THIS IS NOT FINANCIALLY VIABLE BUT I STILL LIKE THE IDEA

I agree
MTA project completion date calculator Take the MTA 's estimate for completion and add 8 years to that.
