Great catch Chris! I'm sure they have probably been out here, but the last time I saw an SP unit in New Jersey, in person, was probably 4 or 5 years ago. As your caption says, there can't be too many of those left...

I was looking through my photos as I remember I saw a NS ethanol train with UP and ex-SP power on it within the past six months. I had some time before my son's soccer game which wasn't rained out despite the rain/heavy mist we had all day. I still would've like to have seen the train today. Anyway, onto the photo of UP 6209, an ex-SP AC44CW, getting pulled from Motiva on December 2012. http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3485867

With a close-up of the SP script on the side of the engine: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3485868

Definitely a welcome sight to see in my opinion.

Last night, a southbound ethanol train on the River Line had a DME, ICE, CP lashup, so they should be somewhere in the north Jersey area right now.

That DME, ICE, CP lashup was moving an ethanol train south on the Chemical Coast just north of the Rahway River/Exit 12 of the Turnpike at around 6:45 this evening.

The PC unit is so elegant. That is a handsome scheme. Like the old NYCentral. Sometimes simple black and white is best. Wow.... I gotta get my butt over there next week with the camera and catch some action.

Heads up K684 is near Port Newark with CN 2500 and a BC Rail Cowl unit, not sure when they will be in Motiva as a 64K ran last night.
