Chris, these shots are for you; thanks again for the heads-up on Monday. Returning to the scene this morning, I was fortunate to shoot something I had never anticipated seeing in person. A widebody C40-8?? They would never run something like that to Jersey, right?!

Crossing Woodbridge Ave. :

Crossing the diamond at CP RON :

And the weather cooperated....very cool.......

I will venture a guess and say no; the CSX ethanol trains normally come down the CSX River Line from Selkirk. The only CSX access to the PRS from the west is the Trenton Line, and aside from a detour train, this is not a 'normal' route for a CSX ethanol train, either loaded or empty.

Somewhat off topic but...

On Saturday afternoon (30 March) around 2PM I saw an Eastbound train of all trash container flat cars being led by a single CSX unit. This was at the Parsonage Road overpass near Menlo Park Mall.

Didn't catch the number of the unit since I was so surprised to see any traffic at all on the PRS.

That's Q706 it runs daily over the PRS to Staten Island, however; it sometimes takes the Lehigh Line.

I spotted CN 2444 on the Chemical Coast under the NJ Turnpike exit 12 ramps one hour back. Facing north with a CSX unit on her south, disconnected from the rest of their train.

I didn't see any NS trains on Saturday morning, but saw a pull and shove of CSX K408 with a nice mix of ICE, DME & CP power.

Conrail local JR4 with the pull, first passing CP Ron:

And then pulling past me:
CP 6048: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446143
"Pac Man" logo: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446144
ICE 6430: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446145
DME 6090: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446146
DME 6362: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446147

Then Conrail JR2 made the push into Motiva.
ICE 6456 & DME 6364: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446148
DME 6364: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446149
The CP SD60s: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446150
http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446151
CSX 2721: http://octrainguy.rrpicturearchives.net ... id=3446152

Despite the overcast skies, the morning was a successful one due to the foreign power and the standard cab engines. Enjoy!

Awesome stuff, Stephen; a day at Port Reading doesn't get much better than that!

Thanks Chris. When I left the house, I was thrilled with the blue skies and white clouds I had. I just wish the sky was that way up at Port Reading.

A very interesting train today, for a couple of reasons; first, three UP units, including a patched, but unrepainted ex-Southern Pacific AC44CW, built 5/95 (it's been almost 17 years since the UP/SP merger officially took effect on 9/11/1996)......

......and, two mid-train buffer cars, in addition to the usual Norfolk Southern required head-end & hind-end cars, which I have never seen before.

Oh, and the handsome SD60E up front was pretty cool as well..... :-)

Nice catch Chris! I was saw the power parked under the bridge this afternoon. Would've loved to have seen that this morning. My son has a soccer game in New Egypt tomorrow, so I won't be able to head back up there.
