Perhaps the demise here is due to the "pressure" of Home Depot (Sunrise Hwy, Bay Shore) in the same way that Grossman's, Pergament, Shand's Hardware, and Ace Hardware in the Patchogue (Sunrise Hwy) area were eliminated.

Home Depot & Lowe's have got to have something to do with it. Also, several Sears Hardware stores on Long Island are closing.

Passed by the former 84 Lumber building yesterday. The building is being renovated and painted. The sliding door on the rail side of the building has been removed. The area where they stored lumber outside remains.

Sears Hardware is closing due to the Sears+ K-Mart merger along with Home Depot/Lowes/ACE Hardware and
True Value Hardware growing stronger.
