Hello all,
I've been a resident of Pompton Plains my whole life, and as a railfan, I've always had a place in my heart for our little former Erie station. While the town just did a wonderfully beautiful job of restoring it to it's early 1900's appearance, I have been having an ongoing argument with another historically-minded town resident who insists that the station was never painted in the Erie's solid green scheme (dark green walls and darker green trim). While I'm not an Erie guy, I do know that this was Erie's standard structure scheme for many years in the 1940's and 1950's, and I know for sure that many of the other stations on the line (i.e. Pequannock) were painted solid green due to photographic evidence that I've found.
I feel like I remember seeing a photo of the Pompton Plains station in solid green, but I can't seem to figure out where it was that I found it. Does anyone know if/where I could find a photo of the station in solid green that would put this matter to rest?
