Hi there.....
I`m Chris, and work out at the Pine Creek RR. Unfortunatley, that add is mistaken, as the Porter 46 is not yet runnable. However, great progress has been made during the winter months. The cab(with the exception of some minor issues) is basically done. The tedious boiler welding work that needed to be done is at long last done, so now we can finally start working with the tube sheet, tubes,. The running gear and chassis has been completely rebuilt. The only thing not together is the pony truck. This has been an extra delay because we needed to have new journal boxes cast for the pony truck. However, once they return, the rest of the parts to the truck (pins, rollers, springs, etc.) have all been machined new or re-machined, so its just a matter of re-assembly at that point. Can`t give a date for operation yet, we`ll see how it goes. Just know that she`s gettin there ......little by little. One must keep in mind we are all volunteers, and have our everyday lives to attend to first, as well as various other parts of the RR to maintain (trackwork, car repair, etc.) But steam will return soon
In the meantime, keep an eye out for our USS 50 ton centercab diesel, #45, which is back in action for this season, and now equiped with a Leslie S5-T 5 chime horn. Take care, and thanks for your interest and support. -Chris, NJMT
