I'd bet it's the Rutherford for whom the Rutherfurd station on the Reading was named. It's now an NS Triple Crown facility between Harrisburg and Hershey.

I believe the Rutherford NJ station was on the Paterson & Hudson River RR, before it was merged into the Erie Railroad. Don't have references handy to verify that, however.

Oh wait, hold on... I made a mistake here...I misread this article. I know that a man Named John Rutherford had something to do with Rutherford way back. Got the wrong guy...
