Hi, i have a few questions abuot the NYC rolling stock:

i've seen many pics of grafitti trains in NYC.

how are they called? when and where did they run? are there still cars
preserved in any museums or for heritage tours?
where can i get lists whith fotos of all NYC subway rolling stock types?

http://www.nycsubway.org is an excellent resource that has all of the information you are asking for (and much more as well).

Direct links on the site to information about rolling stock:

Current fleet: http://nycsubway.org/cars/currentfleet.html
Retired fleet (after unification of the individual rapid transit companies): http://nycsubway.org/cars/postunification.html
Retire fleet (before unification): http://nycsubway.org/cars/preunification.html

On a related note, I was wondering if there was an up-to-date listing of where these cars are based out of (ie. which yards have what series of cars). I'm hoping to get to Yankee Stadium sometime this summer and would like to know what's used on the B/D and 4.
