I took a trip out to Macungie on the Reading Line for a change of pace 6/10/2006. Here are some photos of what I got.

NS 2701 is on the point of 28A, the eastbound roadrailer

NS 9275 and HLCX 6337 are on 65J, the garbage train out of Oak Island. Notice the HLCX 6337 has been painted in solid maroon instead of blue. I wonder if this is a chainge in HELM's paint scheme or if this is a one of a kind unit?

Looks like one not two NS widecabs would be enough for the roadrailer.

Alot of power also on SU-99, how many cars did it have and were they loads?

Fuel to burn.

btw those are good photographs w/neat rundowns, good job!

Thanks. BTW the roadrailer was a long one, over a mile so the two locomotives were warranted. The SU-99 had between 60-70 cars with many loaded or shall I say OVERLOADED garbage cars as I recall. Keep in mind that the SU-99 has to tackle both Sparta Mountain and Gulf Summit so the maximum number of powered axles by law (24) is required. The trailing unit was dead right from the start. NYSW often puts more than four locomotives on a train in the hope that at least 3-4 make it to Binghamton running. More often than not at least one or more engines die on the road thanks to the lack of maintenance on the NYSW.
