Out of curiosity:
Norfolk Southern has a small yard-type setup and medium-sized building that also houses an Amtrak station at Greenville, SC.
What does the yard there do, and what's housed in the NS building?
The yard doesn't seem to be a place where trains are sorted, but it frequently has a few locomotives and cars parked in it, and there are maybe 10 tracks in it. Trains seem to stop there and change crew members.
Any other insights would be appreciated!
