I have a couple of question that has been on my mind for quite some time.

First off, when did the old New York Central (GRS) ATS system get removed? (The system with the large trackside shoes and large locomtive truck mounted shoes) Did this system last into MTA and or Metro North?

Secondly when did the 4 aspect PRR type cab signal system get installed?

The Automatic train stop never lasted past Conrail. It never gave indications, but just that you passed a signal and you had to acknowledge.
There was no speed control involved.
The PRR cab signal was the same that was employed on New Haven line by Penn Central/Amtrak. Later Automatic Speed Control was added.

The ATS system on the former New York Central was done away with
early on in the Penn Central era. Equipment was rapidly removed from
both the right of way and locomotives before the authorities could change
their decisions.
The Pennsylvania Railroad employed the speed control system on their
locomotives early on in the cab signal era, not sure if all territory had
speed control equipped locomotives but the passenger diesels and
electrics were equipped for speed control operation. I don't think the
MP-54 MU's on the PRR had speed control but some of them had some
sort of a train stop arrangement for the drawbridges.
The former New Haven had cab signals but not speed control at least
during my time. New Haven - New York was not officially equipped until
the authorities took over the railroad long after the end of the NHRR.
New Haven Railroad electric locomotives and FL-9's had cab signals but
were not equipped with speed control.
