Chris, those pics are great. Do you know much about the PV parked in the shop and being carted around behind 418? I've always considered myself an armchair fan of the LAL roads but have never heard of the PV until today. It's spotless!

The "PV" is known as "The Traveller" and was originally built for the Canadian National as a wooden car, rebuilt as a steel car. In fact, when I last saw it, it had CN "noodle" carpeting! Arrived on the LAL from the Arkansas & Missouri in 1998 or 1999. Spends most of its time in the "old" enginehouse, so it only sees the light of day for special events. This special event was a memorial train for Kevin McGarvey, the CMO for many years. http://www.lalrailfan.net/

Thanks, Otto. I thought it looked familiar, and it does indeed have the same look that the A&M tourist train had, but I could never place it. Even though I'm in KC for the final of a three year stint, I've still never made it down to the A&M - it's like a 5-6 hour drive.

edit: I notice the website Otto links to is Luther's site. Nicely done website, Luther.

Thanks Otto! Took me a while to find this, vaguely remember reading this but couldn't figure out where.

For those of you interested, here is a condensed history of #100:

Built circa 1884 (wooden construction) as Bangor & Aroostock Railway offical car #200.
Acquired 1913 by the Intercolonial Railway--named Winnipeg
Renumbered Canadian Government Railways #30 in May 1918.
Renumbered Canadian National Railways #102 (Jan 1921), #85 (Oct 1922), and #65 (Apr 1924).
CNR Class PV-68/PV-69, rebuilt Nov.1929-May 1930 with steel fish belly underframe(truss rods), steel sheathing and new interior.
Modernized by CNR in 1963.
Retired by CNR Feb.1976, and sold to Robert Bennatts of Peck MI.
Acquired 1988 by the A&M RR, renumbered #100, named Traveller.
Acquired May 1998 by the LA&L RR.

Discovered this info in my files while doing a little research.....Jerry. :-)
