2008 made a trip lite to the P&W 10/24, entered their territory at 12:05pm...dunno for what, I had to leave

I rode in on train #842 this morning from Canton Jct and we had an HSP-46 pushing seven bi-levels. While I don't love the look (I prefer locos with more of a nose), I love the sound, and the increased horsepower is pretty noticeable.

Thanks for the updates.

So 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012 & 2013 (9 units) are on the property? (& 2008 back to P&W).
Which are/have been in revenue service?

Did I overlook 2024, where's it?

Is delivery plan known for 2000 & 2003?
Before the end of the calendar year?

2005 and 2008 are currently at the P&W. Those and all others currently on T property have run at some point. Currently, only 2001, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2013 are running.

2000, 2003, 2024, 2038, and 2039 all have to leave MPI by the end of the year, otherwise they will have to be compliant with the Tier 4 emissions requirements that take place on 1/1/15. The mods are being done by MPI subcontractors (NS, P&W) as warranty work, simply to ensure units are "complete" and shipped off by the end of the year to evade the Tier 4 requirements, because the payments to the subcontractors are significantly less than the Tier 4 upgrades would cost. Probably not everything will be on T property by the end of the year, though.

Depending on what is specified in the contract, MPI will probably have to pay late fees (X dollars per unit per day) on at least a handful of the units. Regardless of when the units leave the plant, the T will not count them as delivered until they reach T property for the first time.

This wheel bearing issue bottled them up nicely all at various spots between MPI and the T. 25 or so units out of the 40 stuck in either the P&W, NS or somewhere enroute is not good news.

What sort of issues this time? Seems diesel-electric locomotive technology should be pretty mature by now, excepting some of the Tier 3 computer controls, is that where the majority of issues arise?

Also, the warranty work/fix is for axle/wheel bearings, traction motor bearings, or other?
Is more detail available?

It sounds like one of them failed on the Needham Line Tuesday morning too, but I don't have details other than a conductor saying that the engine that failed was "one of the brand new ones."

2013 was cut from its train today(not sure if that was the Needham problem one) which put Southside down a set Wed morning....2007 and 2010 in service to start the day Southside 11/5

There are a lot of software issues for starters, the locomotives have the traditional GE screens and the aftermarket screens that communicate with the equipment in the Rotems (they aren't playing nice together.) The locomotives are new and issues were expected however as far as realibility they are no where near up to par yet, not to mention ive been hearing from some of the road foreman that the AC traction hasn't lived up to expectations either on slippery rail. I'm not qualified to answer this so don't quote me however I was told the traction motors and bearings are both being replaced.
