Spectacular fire at Marcal in East Paterson. Not sure how big a NYSW customer it was recently, but it used to be a very good source of both inbound and outbound boxcars.

It’ll be a shame to lose another NJ rail customer! NJ rail customers really starting to get scarce especially here in northern NJ!

Looking at some aerial footage of what’s left, it appears all the railroad infrastructure is intact and unharmed. I did see what appeared to be 3 rail cars on a siding adjacent to one of the buildings still standing. Possibly boxcars? So they must’ve still been an active customer? At any rate after this all calms down I guess the NYSW will have to send a crew to retrieve those three cars.

Fire started in a warehouse, then engulfed the paper mill. Yes, Marcal has remained an active customer to date.
