Hi all

We spotted this coach parked at Ayer MA this afternoon. The reporting marks had me befuddled, so I looked them up and RPCX stands for "Railroad Passenger Car Numbering Bureau". They appear to provide services for members of the "Railroad Passenger Car Alliance". Does that mean this coach is privately owned by an individual? I didn't see it listed as being available for hire on their website, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Anyone have info on the car and why it is at Ayer?

1937-vintage Budd-built coach, orginally AT&SF (Santa Fe). RPCA is an association of passenger car owners, both individuals and groups (museums, short lines, tourist roads, etc). For members of the group, RPCA handles some of the administrative tasks of moving passenger cars in freight service, such as UMLER registration, reporting marks, programming of car tracking tags, etc.
