I am curious as to what GE is currently doing with the ex-BC Rail units which they retained (5000, 706). And where are they being used?

Thanks in advance.

General Electric Rebuilt M630 #5000 With A DASH-7 Dynamic Braking System, Thus Designating The Unit A MLW/GE M630S-7. It's Above-Frame Mounted Ditchlights Were Blanked-Out, Along With A Change Of The Brake-Wheel Stand. The M630 #706 Recently Has Had No Exterior Changes, Just A Removal Of The Brake Stand. They're [Possibly] Stored In The General Electric Facility Plant At The Erie,PA Headquarters.

706 was bought by the DL, part of the GVT system. It has been readied for shipment and will hopefully be in Scranton shortly.
