Does anyone know where the rail line that runs in the cut (Ok, pit) just beside Liberty Yard and Wayne Junction goes? I know that it is used for something, the rails have that silver 'gleam' to them.

You might be talking about the Blue Line branch. The Blue Line Branch runs down the side of Wayne Junction and then connects with the CSX Trenton Line.

If you are not talking about it, you are talking about the storage track for the wire train. When its not on R3, its stored there.

Deep in the cut is the Low Grade, in Reading Company days, between Nicetown Jct. and Newtown Jct. In Conrail/CSX days it became a part of their Trenton Line.
