Hello, newbie here, but an old hat in NE Florida... Just posted some links on the Amtrak-FEC RR thread, and thought I'd add to them here. Like many of you I'm a guy that dreams of trains, streetcars, LRT, and all things that move masses. Frustrated with the lack of ability to see any of my ideas get pushed into the political arena I decided to become a railroad planner. Now retired that might read "trouble maker" but I have found an effective tool for making them cringe and guess what? In full retreat, we appear to have won the day in Jacksonville... Rail is on it's way in 4 forms on steroids. Amtrak, Commuter Rail, Streetcar and Monorail, all at once! You are welcome to jump in and copy and paste pieces from our articles in metrojacksonville.com, an urbanist site full of young talent, planners, activists and politico's that is remaking a city in our image. Here are a couple of links you might enjoy:

Commuter Rail anyone? Dozens of story's on how to and why a city of Jacksonville's population and giant size needs rail and needs it NOW!

In case you think BUS RAPID TRANSIT is an answer or in case you need ammunition to take out a BRT argument, see our RAIL -v- BRT articles.
