At present, hapag appears to be offloading loaded containers for cp at SJ from ships inbound from Europe to allow better clearance for the ships as they continue on to Montreal
I’m not aware of any containers being loaded on to the hapag ships at SJ
I agree that it is an odd arrangement

How long does it take to go from SJ to Montreal? Will it eventually be better to offload all of the containers in SJ when they get finished with their expansion?

Internet calculator says it is about 1350nm for the sea route between SJ and Montreal. All the way around NB and NS and then the long haul down the st Lawrence River. Assuming about 20 knots, that’s 3 days

Additional container traffic will be starting in the next few weeks, and will lead to another train pair on NBSR. They have trainees out now as well as on going recruitment. More power coming too.

Will CP also be running a second train? With today's PSR size trains, it would seem that it would need to be an awfully big increase in containers for CP to start running a second train, especially when considering that they will be losing significant manifest traffic in the not too distant future with the Pan Am sale.

CP is staffing up but at present will plan to run DPUs and prioritize traffic, whereas NBSR will run two daily road trains.

Noticed that they're advertising for conductors out of Newport again...

Last 21 cars of today's CP 132 were carrying new rail. No idea of the destination.

Looking at the Hapag-Lloyd route listing on their website, a ship docking on Thursday in Saint John will dock on the following Monday in Montreal.
