An interesting topic next door on the possibility of an Amtrak strike:
http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19128

I thought the unions were not allowed to strike, but perhaps at this point, all of their other options have been exhausted. 7 years is a long time.

In any case, the affected lines here would be R8 C Hill, R7 Trenton, R6 Cynwyd, R5 Thorndale, R3 Elwyn/West Chester, R2 Wilmington, R1 Airport.

Would these lines shut down completely? Could SEPTA control assume ops on the local tracks? If it is only the MOW, Engineers and conductors out, would Amtrak's Control towers still be open allowing SEPTA trains to continue?

Would CSX/NS ops also be affected?

I don't think it will come to a strike, and if it does, I think Congress will step in quickly and impose a settlement. And that may explain why the negotiations have dragged on so long.

And incidentally, an Amtrak strike wouldn't effect service on the R-3 Media/Elwyn West Chester branch. It doesn't go through Amtrak controlled territory.

Doesn't CTEC still control Arsenal?

No, Arsenal is remotely controlled by SEPTA-6 train dispatcher.

What about power supply to the ex-Pennsy routes?
