Coach sales are a disaster thus far: 42 seats!

I will CANCEL THE TRIP on JULY 5 if I cannot get to break-even of
462 seats by that date.

Looks like I misjudged drastically on the relative appeals of beer,
cigarettes and lottery tickets v. the first fantrip on the Erie to
Binghamton in 38 years.

As I am NOT a masochist, I will not go on the hook to AMTRAK for
an $8,940 (10%) cancellation penalty. Instead, I will escape with
my financial skin intact, incurring only a Ticketweb $250 setup fee.

Either support the trip NOW...or to hell with it.

This trip was posted on this site 3 mos ago. http://64.78.30.219/forums/viewtopic.ph ... sc&start=0 for the thread.

Given the cost of $185 per ticket for a 14 hr trip that goes essentially nowhere, not to mention that the last 2 hrs will be in darkness, I am not surprised only 42 seats have been sold. If the train stopped at Port Jervis to pick up, some more might book. Who wants to drive to Hoboken and ride back thru PJ and return, if they live close to PJ? PJ-Hoboken can be ridden any time.

How did the break-even booking change by 25%? 600 down to 462?

Also, the link for the schedule thannon posted on the above thread goes nowhere, as of this post. No schedule, no info, just a dead page. Use the other link jnt4172 posted.

Please read the thread at the above link so you all know what this is about.

(Otto, please don't delete this. I don't care if you lock it, just let everyone have access to all the info.)

That attitude probably explains the dismal ticket sales.
