Wow. Its foolish that they couldn't negotiate anything. I would think that doing so would cost less than going to court...It would be funny (but not practical) if the state turned around, used eminent domain to gain that strip of land, and then charged Guilford "wheelage" rights to cross it :-D :P

Yeah, Guilford wants a fee for each ton of wood that goes over the conveyor system. How in any stretch of the imagination are they entitled to that versus a flat fee for 'air rights'?

It is extortion. And in the end they will get near to nothing.
