Queensland rail have announced the sale of the luxury GSPE "cruise train" to their former joint partners in the operation, the Orient Express group.
The train will be shipped from Australia and used on a new, as yet unannounced, service, possibly in Japan but maybe elsewhere.
QR investigated the possibility of re-introducing the train locally but decided that there were not enough "Platinum" class clients to keep the train going on a regular basis.
A loss to Australia but probably inevitable.
