Seems Fitchburg has gained another new? customer. At the west end of the Plastic transfer yard they are spotting loaded cement? cars for unloading. A scale has been built along with a storage tower of some sort.

FI-1 had the 305 for power today. Lots of cars on the west side of OX, for the locals to grab.

One car was spotted at the United Solutions/United Plastic spur this evening.

Hi Everyone,
While on the subject of "gawkings through the 'burg", Pan AM's EDPO was eastbound through the Fitchburg Train Station at 6:21 AM on August 23rd. Power was MEC 601 and 600 running "elephant style." Approximately 40 cars. The consist were the usual suspects of boxes, covered hoppers, gons, lumber racks and tanks (several calcium carbonate and LPG). There was also one Southern bulkhead flatcar in the consist carrying what looked like telephone poles. Intersting note about the lumber racks, several had "WRWK" reporting marks. The Warwick Railway was a short line which was purchased by the Providence & Worcester in 1980. For a while in the '80s, there were "WRWK" boxcars running around. Looks like PW has resurrected the "WRWK" reporting mark for their lumber racks. Also, towards the end of the consist there was a grey Boston & Maine covered hopper now marked for MoW service, but carrying full "McGinnis" lettering and the intertwined "BM logo." The car was untagged. This covered hopper has to be at least 50 years old. Presumably in company service heading for either Portland or Waterville.

The 0845/01-21-2013 drive-by of East Fitchburg revealed it as the place were the WBs were -- in suspended animation. On 1 just east of the east limit of CPF-FG were NewBlue 505, GMTX 3005, NewBlue 354, OldPaint 312, OldPaint 317 NewBlue 378, and NewBlue 610 heading enough OMYAs and others to make POED a probable ID. A bit to the east and on Freight Main West were BNSF Pumpkins 4108 and 4156 leading an MT grainer. The leader and mebbe the trailer and the cars appear in Bob Sprague's 01-20 photo ( http://photos.nerail.org/s/?p=206184 ). I listened until just before 0945, but heard no confabs between either train and D-3.
There were no cars on the United Solutions siding.

Caught FI-1 switching out Plastician, before they headed to Derby to switch the Plastic place there. HLCX 7843, MEC 382 provided the power for the Fitchburg local today...
