Any idea how the electronic signs work? how do they know that the train is 9 minutes late? is there some sort of induction in the rail or is it radio operated.

Eric,
The electronic signs are hooked into Divides TIMAX computer. You hit a button and time such as when the train leaves Ronkonkoma it will say ON TIME. But if it leaves more than 5 minutes and 59 seconds late it will read 6 minutes late and so forth. That shows when Divide times the train out of Greenport or Riverhead. When I time a train out of Montauk or Speonk it ahows up on the screens along the way. When a train says he is clear of like say ND I log in Hampton Bays and that shows the time on the screens along the way on time or 6 mins late and so forth. I hope I answered your question.
