LAGRANGE, Ill., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. (EMD) announced today that it had concluded a memorandum of understanding to acquire Turner Diesel Ltd's rail services business focusing on EMD locomotives. EMD is the world's most successful provider of diesel-electric locomotives and related services. EMD also provides engines for power, marine, and industrial customers. Scotland-based Turner Diesel is a premier supplier of EMD aftermarket parts and rail services throughout Europe and the Near East and a distributor of and service provider for EMD engines in the power, marine and industrial products segments.


Albert Enste, EMD's Vice President of International Sales and Service announced, "I am truly excited to be able to bring Turner's EMD rail-related business activities within EMD. Turner has built a strong and professional organization dedicated to aftermarket customer support of EMD rail products. Effective October 30, 2006, the current Turner Diesel locations in Aberdeen, Scotland and Stoke-on-Trent, England will be transferred to a new subsidiary of EMD, Electro-Motive Services International Ltd., which will manage the acquired business from Aberdeen. Mr. Duncan Scott, long-time Turner Diesel employee and current Director of Sales at Turner Diesel Ltd will transfer to Electro-Motive Services International, Ltd. and will serve as its Managing Director.
